“WordPress Stored XSS Vulnerability – Update Now,” by Roger Montii in Search Engine Journal
This week, WordPress identified two vulnerabilities they’re fixing. The biggest one is a stored XSS vulnerability that would allow an attacker to upload a script directly to your site. The second is a prototype pollution vulnerability, a flaw in the JavaScript against the website. Luckily, there’s a simple fix: be sure your website is updated to WordPress 5.9.2, and perform continual website maintenance.

“Ads on Disney+ Will Give More Brands a Chance,” by Kelsey Sutton in Marketing Brew
Disney is debuting an ad-supported tier to its streaming service by the year’s end, an opportunity for smaller businesses to get a piece of the OTT video ad action. Very few details are available, but the Big Mouse hinted that the ad load will be light and may be presented differently than other streaming platforms.

“Microsoft’s Automotive Ads Get More Placements, Roll Out Globally,” by George Nguyen in Search Engine Land
This week, Microsoft Advertising expanded Automotive Ads placement and rolled out a beta to all advertisers. The updated ad format displays in the Microsoft Audience Network, Microsoft Autos Marketplace, and the Windows search bar, powered by Bing. Microsoft plans to roll out additional expansions this year, as automotive search interest is up 48 percent this year compared to 2019.

“New Tools for Hotels to Reconnect with Travelers,” by Julie Farago in Google Ads & Commerce Blog
Google launched free hotel booking links last year; soon advertisers will be able to access new click reporting in the Hotel Center to see number of clicks, link impressions, booking value, and more. Hoteliers also will be able to share their nightly rates and availability on Google via their Google Business Profile, if they meet the platform’s eligibility requirements.

“Google I/O Takes Place May 11th and 12th, and It Will Be Fully Available Online” by Jay Peters in The Verge
Google’s annual developer conference, Google I/O, will be completely free to everyone this year. A limited live audience made of Google employees and partners will attend, while all sessions are offered virtually. Online registration will be available at a later date. You can bet our team members will be in attendance!
