Since its start with MySpace – or maybe Facebook – social media has been evolving at a mindblowing pace, not once slowing down since the early 2000s.
This week, social media news dominated our industry conversations, especially Reels, showing just how much of a chokehold TikTok has on every platform trying to compete with them.

That’s a no-brainer – and it’s why agencies are offering TikTok creators a nice salary to join them full time. Because platforms like TikTok require full-time content creation to stay trending, agencies are only too happy to find someone dedicated to the craft and knowledgeable about what makes the best, most engaging videos – the kind that make even grown adults lose four hours at a time to the app.

To try to tame the TikTok beast, Facebook is pulling out all the stops to make its Reels more desirable and easier to use. One way is by introducing a new feature integrated into Meta Creator Studio to schedule video publication in three easy steps. Native scheduling capabilities are still in development for the Instagram version of Reels – so stay tuned.

Instagram is celebrating three new features this week, one of which will be a big time-saver for marketers serving content across both Reels platforms. The updates include the “Add Yours” sticker, Instagram-to-Facebook crossposting of video content, and Facebook Reels Insights. Crossposting is pretty self-explanatory, and the “Add Yours” sticker already exists on Facebook Reels, to encourage others to post a video response. And new Facebook Reels insights let social media professionals see data like reach, average watch time, and other metrics to help gauge performance.
