When an Overland Park, Kansas, mayor with 16 years of tenure announced his retirement, a local politician and city council president kicked off his bid for this hotly contested city leadership position.
the problem
A beloved politician without an online following
Before partnering with iFOCUS, a mayoral candidate for the city of Overland Park had very little presence on social media, but needed a way to connect with voters to help him win the election. A guiding social media content strategy was necessary to humanize the candidate, show his dedication to his city, and grow awareness ahead of election day.

the solution
Social media leads to victory
To help the mayoral candidate connect with voters, iFOCUS created new business pages for Facebook, Linkedin, and Instagram and revitalized the candidates X/Twitter account. Our social media team posted 20 times per month on each platform, boosted popular posts, and incorporated social listening to respond to negative comments and keep a pulse on campaign buzz.
In seven months, the team achieved:
Facebook 461 new page likes 36,000 total engagements 784 shares 1,973 comments
Twitter 128 new followers 7,600 engagements 206 retweets 238 post link clicks
Instagram 89 new followers 2,100 engagements 44 comments
LinkedIn 29 new followers 736 engagements
Ultimately, the candidate won his race, and iFOCUS earned a 2022 KCDMA Silver Award for Social Media Management.
